What We Do At the Center of Advancing Women

Training and Employment Programs:

We provide women with the skills and tools necessary to enter the workforce, offering job training, employment placement, and career development support to help them achieve economic independence.

Support for Refugee Women and Women with Disabilities:

We work closely with marginalised refugee women, helping them navigate complex systems and ensuring their rights are upheld in the delivery of services and supports.

Safe Spaces and Community Networks:

We create safe, inclusive environments where women can share their experiences, connect with one another, and find emotional and social support through peer networks and mentoring. Culturally Sensitive Support: We provide specialised services for marginalised refugee and migrant women who are experiencing domestic violence, understanding that cultural, linguistic, and immigration issues can make it harder to seek help.

Legal Aid Referrals:

We connect women with legal professionals who specialise in domestic violence cases, offering assistance with intervention orders, custody matters, and other legal issues.

Court Support:

Our team provides emotional and logistical support for women navigating the legal system, accompanying them to court hearings and helping them understand their legal rights and options. Advocacy and Legal Support: We advocate for women’s rights, particularly for those who are marginalized, helping them understand and exercise their legal and social rights.

Counselling and Emotional Support:

Individual Counselling: We offer one-on-one counselling services to help women cope with the emotional and psychological effects of domestic violence.

Group Therapy and Peer Support:

Women can connect with others who have experienced similar situations through group therapy sessions, fostering a sense of community and shared understanding. Family Support Services: We offer parenting support and family services to help single mothers care for their children while dealing with other challenges such as domestic violence.

Awareness and Prevention Programs:

We host workshops on domestic violence awareness, prevention, and women’s rights, empowering communities to understand and prevent domestic abuse.

Education Programs for Women:

Our programs educate women on recognising early signs of domestic violence, understanding their rights, and knowing where to seek help. Pass Way Women’s Program: From Family Violence to Empowerment Through Education and Employment The Pass Way Women’s Program is designed to support women who have experienced family violence, helping them move from crisis to independence through education, skills training, and employment opportunities. This program provides a clear path for women to rebuild their lives, achieve financial stability, and regain confidence after leaving abusive situations. Program Goals Empowerment through Education: Equip women with the necessary educational qualifications and vocational skills to secure meaningful employment.

Economic Independence:

Help women become financially self-sufficient through career guidance, job training, and placement services.

Emotional and Social Support:

Provide a supportive community where women can heal, grow, and connect with others who have experienced similar challenges.

Impact Since our establishment

The Center of Advancing Women has helped hundreds of women reclaim their lives, rebuild their confidence, and find a path toward self-sufficiency.

Through our programs and partnerships, we have connected women with employment opportunities, provided access to essential services, and supported them in their personal and professional growth.

Initiatives to Prevent Isolation

At the Centre of Advancing Women, we believe in the power of connection to combat isolation. Our initiatives are designed to create safe spaces where refugee women can come together, share their experiences, and build lasting relationships.

One of our key initiatives is the ‘Sister Circles’ program, which organizes regular meet-ups for women to engage in activities such as cooking, crafting, and storytelling. These gatherings provide a supportive environment where women can relax, learn new skills, and form meaningful bonds.

“CAW provided me with the emotional support I so desperately needed. They helped me understand my rights and guided me through the process of getting help for the abuse I was suffering. They connected me with legal aid and counselling, and they even helped me build a new support network. But what meant the most to me was the feeling of not being alone anymore. I had finally found a community that stood by me.”

Without the Center, I don’t know where I’d be today. They gave me the tools to rebuild my life and the confidence to stand up for myself. I’ll forever be grateful to CAW for stepping in when no one else would and for giving me the support I so desperately needed to start over.”

Zahra

Survivor of Family Violence

Today, my dream has become a reality, and I am so proud of what I’ve accomplished. Without Samia’s support and courage, I know I wouldn’t be where I am today. She gave me the strength to believe in myself again, and for that, I will always be grateful.”

Sanna

CAW Student

Without CAW, I would still be stuck in fear and uncertainty. They gave me the courage to rebuild my life and the security of knowing I could stay in Australia without living in fear. I’ll always be grateful for the support they provided and for helping me achieve the freedom I dreamed of.” Know, I am one of the volunteer at the CAW
