Our Mission

At the Centre of Advancing Women (COAW), we are dedicated to empowering refugee women by providing community-based support services. Established in 2020, our mission is to offer a safe space for African-Australian women who are often overlooked by social systems. Through your generous donations, we can continue to offer vital services that promote connection, learning, and prevent isolation.
COAW was founded in response to the increased demand for family violence support during the COVID-19 lockdowns. Our team, led by CEO Samia Baho, consists of 25 multilingual staff members and volunteers who are committed to making a difference. Your contributions help us train Community Champions, provide health and safety information, and create a reliable support network for those in need.
